Proverbs 8:34-36 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts. For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh. But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.” Psalm 84: 11 For Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly. 12 Yahweh of Armies, blessed is the man who trusts in you. 1 John 5:5 Now who is the one overcoming the world, except the one believing that Jesus is the Son of God?

Discovered, drawings of the Tower of Babel with King Nebuchadnezzar II, on an ancient stone tablet

These drawings have clear images of the Tower of Babel as recorded in Genesis 11:

And they said, "come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven." Genesis 11:4

There is also a clear image of King Nebuchadnezzar II, standing next to the Tower of Babel.

Who Was The King Nebuchadnezzar II?
He was the king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, who reigned c. 605 BC – 562 BC. He conquered Judah and sent the Jews into exile after forfiling a prophecy made by the Prophet Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 25:10

I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Just as the Prophet Jeremiah foretold, King Nebuchadnezzar II, destroyed both the city and the temple of Jerusalem, in 597 BC. This is one of 1000's of Bible prophecies fulfilled.

A 16th-century hand-coloured engraving of the "Hanging Gardens of Babylon" by Dutch artist Martin Heemskerck, with the Tower of Babel in the background
There is much evidence of the biblical King Nebuchadnezzar II, on clay tablets. King Nebuchadnezzar is most famous for the legendary city he built called the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which was constructed for his homesick wife Amyitis (or Amytis) to remind her of her homeland, Medis (Media) in Persia.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are now documented in our history books today as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one of the Wonders that may have been purely legendary.

As usual, scholars doubted whether Babylon ever existed. Until archaeologists stood in awe as they discovered the remains of the ancient city walls of Kasr – also called Palace or Castle, a temple of Marduk which also contained shrines to Ea and Nabu. We can still see many parts of the ancient city-state of Babylon today near present-day Al Hillah, Babil province, in Iraq.
Again more Bible prophecies were told by the Hebrew prophets, Jeremiah 50 and 51 and Isaiah 13:19, and 14:23. when the prophets of God said Babylon would be overthrown, permanently, and It would be reduced to swampland.
Babylon will be a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, an object of horror and scorn, a place where no one lives. Jeremiah 51:37
And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, The glory, the excellency of the Chaldeans, Hath been as overthrown by God, With Sodom and with Gomorrah. Isaiah 13:19
"I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD Almighty. Isaiah 14:23

 Barnes' Notes on the Bible
The Hebrew word (קפד qı̂ppod), occurs but five times Isaiah 34:11; Zephaniah 2:14. According to Bochart and Gesenius, it means the hedgehog.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
And pools of water - Bochart supposes this means, even the pools of water shall become dry. But the common interpretation is to be preferred, that Babylon itself should become filled with pools of water. This was done by Cyrus' directing the waters of the Euphrates from their channel when the city was taken, and by the fact that the waters never returned again to their natural bed, so that the region was overflowed with water (see the notes at Isaiah 13.) And I will sweep it with the besom of destruction - A besom is a broom; and the sense here is, that God would entirely destroy Babylon, and render it wholly uninhabitable.

As we now see the buildings of Babylon in a state of ruin today

In the 1800's, when archaeologists excavated Babylon, there were many parts that could not be excavated. WHY? Because they were under a water table that had risen over the years. Just as predicted by Isaiah 14:23,
"I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland."
Interestingly In 1983, Saddam Hussein started re-building the city on top of the old ruins. An article published in April 2006 states that UN officials and Iraqi leaders have plans for restoring Babylon, making it into a cultural center.

However in report of the British Museum's Near East department, Dr. John Curtis said how parts of the US forces had occupied the site for some time and have caused irreparable damage to the archaeological record, after building a military base and camps including facilities for a helipad, on ancient Babylonian ruins following the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

As we all know Saddam Hussein was killed, and the ancient city of Babylon remains as history. Just as God said it would.
"I will sweep her with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD Almighty. Isaiah 14:23 If only Saddam Hussein believed what God told his Prophets before wasting so much time and money trying to restore the ancient city of Babylon, Babylon will be a heap of ruins, a place where no one lives. Jeremiah 51:37.

Here again we have Babylon's stories told in the Bible, and real life locations proving actual events that really happened, Archaeology over and over again, PROVING THE BIBLE!

I am Simon Brown, Thank you for reading this article, may God bless those who seek him, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
